The science behind SNØ

How does SNØ Clim work?
The cold side faces the user → immediate cooling (feels like up to –10 °C).
The hot side is discreetly vented at the rear → no increase in room temperature.
Thanks to the Peltier effect, our devices use a thermodynamic system that generates cold on one side and heat on the other.
The energy balance is perfect: the cold energy emitted = the hot energy removed, without ever creating heat build-up in the room.
Unlike fans that simply circulate warm air, SNØ technology produces real, channelled and directional cooling.
The result: an immediate sensation of -5 to -10°C in the cooled area, for instant comfort.
What is the Peltier effect?
The Peltier effect is a thermoelectric phenomenon discovered in the 19th century by physicist Jean-Charles Peltier. It is based on an astonishing property: when an electric current flows through a module composed of two different conductive materials, it creates a temperature difference.
- One side becomes cold: it absorbs heat from its surroundings.
- The other side becomes hot: it rejects this heat to the outside.
This process operates continuously as long as current is flowing.
The advantage? You can produce real cold:
- No refrigerant gas (therefore more environmentally friendly),
- Without a compressor (therefore more compact and quieter),
- No moving parts (therefore more durable and maintenance-free).
